Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Shoothill as a Service. Can't find what you're looking for? Get in touch and we'll be happy to help.

You pay a fixed monthly fee that covers everything: initial development, hosting, maintenance, support, and ongoing improvements. There's no upfront capital expenditure. We scope your project during a free discovery session and provide a clear monthly price before you commit. Your subscription continues for as long as you're using and benefiting from the software.
Your subscription includes the full development of your bespoke software, UK-based cloud hosting, SSL certificates, regular backups, security updates, bug fixes, technical support, and a bank of hours each month for new features and improvements. Think of it as having your own software team on retainer — without the overhead of hiring one.
Most projects have a working first version within 4–6 weeks of starting. We use agile development methods with weekly demos, so you'll see real progress from week one. More complex systems may take a few months to reach full scope, but we'll always get a usable version into your hands as quickly as possible so you can start seeing value early.
The software is built bespoke for you and you retain full ownership of your data at all times. The intellectual property arrangements are clearly defined in our agreement. If you ever decide to leave, we'll ensure a smooth transition including full data export and handover documentation.
There's no long-term lock-in. If you decide to cancel, we provide a reasonable notice period and will work with you to ensure a clean handover. This includes exporting all your data in a standard format and providing documentation. We're confident in the value we deliver, which is why we don't need to trap you in a contract.
Absolutely. Integration is one of our core strengths. Whether you're using Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Salesforce, Microsoft 365, or industry-specific tools, we can build integrations that connect your new bespoke software with your existing ecosystem. We also specialise in migrating data from legacy systems — we'll run old and new in parallel until you're confident in the switch.
Off-the-shelf software is built for the average business, which means it forces you to adapt your workflows to fit the tool. With Shoothill as a Service, the software is built around your specific processes, terminology, and way of working. You get exactly the features you need and none of the bloat you don't. Plus, it evolves with your business — we continuously improve it based on real usage and feedback.
We use modern, enterprise-grade technologies including .NET, React, Azure, and SQL Server. Our tech stack is chosen for reliability, scalability, and long-term maintainability — not because it's trendy. We also leverage reusable frameworks built over 20 years of bespoke development, which accelerates delivery without compromising quality.
Security is built into everything we do. Your software is hosted on UK-based cloud infrastructure with enterprise-grade security, including encryption at rest and in transit, regular penetration testing, automated backups, and role-based access controls. We follow industry best practices for data protection and are fully compliant with UK GDPR requirements.
You'll have a dedicated account manager who is your single point of contact throughout the relationship. During development, we hold weekly demo sessions where you see real working software and provide feedback. We're available by phone, email, and video call during UK business hours. Because our entire team is based in Shrewsbury, there are no timezone or language barriers — and you're always welcome to visit us in person.
